Hello! I am Carol Boettcher, a certified elementary education teacher and professional singer since 1980. It was in the 80’s that I met and worked alongside Lori in the same band.
I grew up locally and after starting a family of my own, I moved with my husband to North Idaho to raise our three children. During my hiatus from singing as our children were growing up, I went to Lewis-Clark State College and obtained a B.S. in Elementary Education. I taught 2nd through 4th grades for ten years before returning to Michigan.
It was my current husband who encouraged me 4 years ago to get back into singing. So, this former top-40/jazz singer put on a cowboy hat and blingy jeans and became the front person in a country band! We had the privilege of opening for some nationally known Country artists at the Gorge, a natural outdoor amphitheater in Washington. I fell in love with swing dancing, cowboy boots, and country music harmonies while I was in that band!
Another part of life that I adore, and this is a biggie, is PEOPLE! I get energized by being around all kinds of people. They teach me so much when they share their stories of love, loss, family, friends, work, and perseverance with me. The senior community that we instructors serve contains a wealth of life-experience. I consider the wisdom they pass on to me as a gift to be treasured.
Lori’s Movin and Groovin allows me to combine my love for teaching, singing, movement, and people all at the same time. I also get to give back to those who have already given so much. Seriously, how lucky can a girl get?
